I think this was the first strip that I was actually legitimately proud of. I won't go into the back story concerning the Apostolic Faith Church/Verizon vs. the People of Eureka too much, you can look it up if you need to, but here's a brief synopsis:

Corporation needs land. Church has land. Church exists in community. Corporation offer church money for use of land for purpose community disagrees with. Corporation threatens community. Community speaks. Corporation wins. Church makes money.

I probably left some details out, but come on, I'm making a freakin' comic strip here people! But seriously, the opportunity to poke fun at an absurd situation, while hopefully bringing a smile to the face of a beaten community was an honor and one that I hope to be able to repeat. Odds are something similar will happen again.
I kinda secretly hope that the phrase "Verizon Tower of Babel" will catch on as a way to describe the Verizon tower which was completed less than a week after this strip's publication, complete with crosses and a bell to attempt to mask what it is. Very cute, if you ask me. Methinks that what I assume the stated purpose of the Apostolic Faith Church is (Reaching their community for Christ? Serving others?) might be called into question by not listening to the concerns of the nearby residents. To be fair, obviously I don't know the details of the deal they struck, but I'm withholding my tithe.

I should mention that the part of "God's Hand" was played by Jennifer Benoit, which may cause people to call into question what theological points I may be trying to make with this strip. Does Seven-O-Heaven believe in a vengeful God? Are they saying God's a woman? Gasp!

I'll keep my answers to myself. Ask me later.
